I just finished watching The View, and today's big guest was Bill Maher. All in all, it was a love/hate watching experience. I disliked Bill Maher prior to this show, but now I really, really dislike him. Sitting there pompously, he talked about how he didn't learn that his mom was Jewish until he was 13, and how his parents left their church because they were using birth control. That's an odd reason to leave a church, especially because it was only his dad who was attending, and barely anyone follows everything that the church says to do.
Joy, whom I also strongly dislike, was drooling and giggling while Maher outwardly insulted Christianity, knowing full-well that Elisabeth and Sherri are both Christians. He came out and basically called them both dumb, irrational thinkers. He said it is POSSIBLE that they MAY be intelligent people, but they have defintely put a wall up in their brain, in order to believe in religion.
He is definitely one of the most disrespectful people I have ever seen in my life. And for someone who just made a documentary about how horrible religion is, he sure didn't know Jesus' birthday (the date of Christmas).
I can't find a clip of this episode up on YouTube yet, but if you can find one please post the link in the comments section! Thanks!

Yeah, I saw him on Leno last night and he pissed me off so much that I went to his website and called him a few names which I won't repeat here. He was making detestable remarks toward Sarah Palin which I'm sure he wouldn't have the nuts to say in front of her husband who would kick his ass ten times sideways.
Maher is an arse plain and simple, worse than Mikey Moore.
And who is Bill Mayer? And why do we care what he thinks, or says?
Can't wait for his movie this weekend.
Religulous
Awesome.
Jesus wasn't born on christmas.
In fact, noone knows when he was born.
So it looks like Bob Maher knows alot more about this than you do.
Fuck Sarah Palin.
I herd you dont liek when people exercise their freedom of speechkipz
I'd like to point out the irony in your saying that Bill Maher's new movie will be "awesome."
Bill--not Bob--Maher not knowing when Christmas is, which is what he was referring to, does not highlight him knowing more than I do. Sorry, there's just no way you could possibly make that mistake mean that.
Saying I don't like when people exercise their freedom of speech because I am questioning something someone else is saying is so totally ironic it's laughable. I support Maher's right to speak, just not what he is saying. His right to speak is my right to speak as well, so when I am criticizing him, using that very same right, to say that I am wishing to take that right away is ridiculous. Come on now.
conmaesta,
I'm sure he wouldn't have the balls to say it in front of her either. Because she could definitely take him just as well!

Sarah Palin deserves to be made fun of. She is quite possibly, the STUPIDEST, most unqualifed and undereducated politican i have ever read about. It is clear she has no idea how the economy works, or even how her own party's platform works.
Healthcare reforms? What the fuck?
I've also got a bit of a love/hate thing for Maher. When he's making fun of religion, he's pretty damn funny. When dealing with most topics, he's ok. But when he starts ranting about politics - especially anything regarding the middle east - he just sounds ignorant.
On the other hand, he did just about beat the crap out of a 9/11 denier on live TV, so overall I really have to like him despite his politics.
Other than that, I'm just shocked that he'd appear on "The View". I have never seen a more vapid collection of ditzes than the gaggle of twits who regularly appear on that show. At least they got rid of "Rozie", but the rest of them aren't exactly brain surgeons either. I think Maher's presence must have doubled the average IQ in that room.
I didn't mean that I have a love/hate thing for Bill Maher. I meant that I love the View and I hate Maher. He may make some valid points, but he throws in a bunch of incorrect "facts," and an obnoxious attitude that totally tears apart anything valid he says. He comes across as ignorant and disrespectful (both of which, he is).
Really? I'd love to know which of his facts were incorrect.
As for his attitude ... frankly, it's hard NOT to come across as obnoxious, when you're essentially tearing apart fairytales, or any kind of theories which are unsupported by evidence. Hell, I've been accused of being obnoxious by everyone from creationists to moon hoaxers, to 9/11 deniers. People don't like to have their sacred cows brought before the altar, as it were.
Oh, and P.S. .... you love the View? Really? REALLY really??
WHY????? It's just a handful of uneducated women with room-temperature IQ's sitting around gossiping about famous people, or discussing topics which they don't even have a basic understanding of. What can you possibly like about it???
If she deleted your post, I'm willing to bet that you deserved it. You'd have to do something pretty extreme to get your comments removed from this blog.
I deleted the post because it was irrelevant to the discussion. All logical trains of thought are encouraged, all wastes of space are not.
alex,
Have you watched the View? You might think the women are ditzy, but I certainly wouldn't call them all uneducated. I really like Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Kudos to all strong conservative women! Especially ones who are working moms that manage to still look beautiful! And Maher got the date of Christmas incorrect, to start.
Yeah, Elizabeth sticks out as the lone voice of sanity. I was mainly impressed with the way she took down Rosie - before that I didn't think much of any of them.
As well, Whoopie Goldberg is, of course, a great actress, and for the most part a very intelligent woman.
Still, to see them debating some of the things they discuss ... well, it's like watching some sports show talk particle physics. They're just way out of their league. And the gossiping just doesn't appeal to me very much :) Maybe that's a "guy thing", I don't know, but their show has very little appeal for me. I wouldn't mind meeting some of them one-on-one, but put them together and they're just plain annoying, and more often than not completely wrong.
As for Maher, I really can't see him making such a stupid mistake. As I said, I'm not exactly a HUGE fan of the guy - there's quite a few things we disagree on - but it doesn't seem likely that he'd do something THAT stupid. It's not that I don't trust you - I'd just really like to see a clip of the episode before I call the guy a dumbass.
Bill Maher, the so called 'Libertarian', on the View flogging his questionable wares, whoring out for the msm of which he is a huge tit sucker. His opinions mean nothing. He would fit in well with that bunch of tv morons on the view. As for his take on 911 deniers, who gives a shit. This tv moron called the islamist hijackers...brave!
He laughs at the religious morons. Who doesn't? If he had any real balls, he would laugh at all the tv watching morons out there who let the glass tit guide them through their hopeless lives. He is just a pawn like every other tv moron.
As for the View, holy shit, just what we need, more tv morons telling us what is wrong and right in the world. Less tv folks, will make this a better world.
Anyone that would be influenced by the msm has long since traded their values for those of the tv world where the only 'real' news is from CNN and the only real family values are from the disney channel and their idea of great food is a fricken happy meal.
after that spiel about freedom of speech.... i loled when my post was deleted.
st actually was relevent since we were talking about 9/11 denyers and bob maher :S.... but anyways
delete fucking everything imo
Nonsense. What Bill Maher said was completely deserved. Non-believers have taken years of one sided abuse. It's ok for a person to stand on the street corner and try to sell the gospel. No one thinks that's rude. They might be making assertions about the character of people who don't believe as they do, but its not phasing anyone. However, people *DO* consider it appallingly disrespectful if I attempted to preach secular humanism. If someone stands on the street corner with a sign that says something to the effect of "There is no supernatural" onlooking people become aggressive. I've seen believers lose their civility. Some throw punches. I go to a baptist school, but I've never been hostile to a Christian message. I've never seen an atheist get physically hostile to a message. But I have seen a believer get his tail feathers flustered and put up his dukes. There's a double standard in America. Bill Maher probably makes you uncomfortable probably because he's chissiling at an idea that you've built your entire world around. It'll sting at first, but over time it will become something normal to discuss. All religions should be open to the deepest forms of criticism.
