I think that the lesson to be learned from the British experience and its equally threatened Dutch counterparts is obvious. If you are willing to capitulate to the hoards, effectively, without a fight, then you deserve your politically correct fate. The irony is that if these same Englishmen and their well placed 'heads up arse' were ever to complain after the inevitable imposition of sharia, they would be killed...which of course is what they and all their gutless politically correct counterparts seem to be craving. The western 'death wish' and guilt driven ignorance is threatening all good free people everywhere. I say if England doesn't care enough to care...let the mullahs have at it.
England has become a Trudeaunian wet dream of multi-cultural melting pots boiling over and soon to be spewed all over the unsuspecting middle and working class idiots of the once great Empire. Yet Muslims in Canada aren't the same as across the pond. 3000 riot police in France are injured every year and they call it an intifada there. The rioters are beginning to use guns on the police now. This is nothing like our experience.
A crucial aspect of this vis a vis Canada is the French economic system which essentially heavily favors people with experience and educational advantages who already have jobs by forcing employers to justify all firings. Your not going to take a chance on someone you might not be able to get rid of. It shuts young people and immigrants out and the regulated housing system doesn't allow for housing to be built fluidly enough - there are tent cities of largely muslim immigrants.
This combined with the century memories of war in the militant Islamic mind bodes very ill for Europe but doesn't necessarily include North America. Canada and America are too polyglot and large for the pathologies in Europe to have the same hold here - and our more confident country has impressed the Calgary imam Syed Soharwardy who filed the Alberta complaint against Ezra Levant.

This is astonishing to me. The man joined a multi-faith walk and further in the article he praises the tolerance of people in Quebec who he had heard were markedly intolerant! He also makes clear that the outrage about free speech has made him respect this as a Canadian value. Meanwhile in France Brigitte Bardot is regularily fined for "racist" comments against Muslims. (Steyn calls himself the Canadian Bardot sometimes)

Compared to Europe, Canada is like a miracle. The openness of the country, the confidence, the reputation, the economic and political freedom - I don't know just what - but Muslims, most of them, may fit here perfectly.
General, if you are buying the crap that Syed Soharwardy and his extremist ilk are selling, you better check some REAL facts about this Jew hater jihadist.
You are right in saying that we are NOT France or Europe. However, we are on a a path that cushions the ride for people like the newly minted multi-culturalist Sayed.

There's no question that we shouldn't be stupid about it. The liberal assumption that we'll just all get along is more than that - many of them clearly feel that it would be alright if we don't all get along and "we" are the losers.
Yet I would call it equally naive to assume that Syed has had no change of heart. Assuming that he is and always will be a beginning of a threat to our democracy plays into the hands of the Islamists who want the sides to be us and them. The Canadian Muslim Congress in itself is surely evidence to the good as much as it's releases are to the bad.
My thinking on the subject begins with Mark Steyn's observations, but the naive view that takes Islamists at their word and plays into their hand by assuming they speak for Muslims has led me to rethink. An example was the conservative cry that the Spanish had failed a test of will from terrorists by booting their conservative government after the Madrid bombings. That government told Spain that the bombings were done by the basques. Nobody should have voted for them - it wasn't a victory for al queda but a failure by that government.
Yet a naive conservative reaction made it seem otherwise. They made it a victory for Al Quaeda.
I met a Muslim guy named "Moe". He was perfectly... Canadian. This country - at least in Edmonton and its probably very different in Toronto and Montreal - has got a lot of kick. It makes me not discount, but take a step back from, the idea that a lot of Mohammeds spells the end of our country.
"I am Canadian, and my name is Moe!" That's what I've seen, so far.
I have been writing about this at the Post-Darwinist, as I got drawn into the debate (when friends were charged or sued, and I was obliquely threatened).
I think it a huge mistake to focus on Muslims. Leftists set up these kangaroo courts and were their primary users for a long time.
It is not fair to complain when some Muslims happen to use the system. They are legally entitled to do so.
Let's focus on shutting down the HRC system. Then neither a few Muslims nor a few of anyone else can use them to oppress others.
