Ezra Levant on Coren - Discussing the decay of your freedom

Just caught Ezra Levant on the Micheal Coren show. I was obviously glued to the screen for the entire hour (even the commercials that all played like 4 times). In short, it was two clever men talking lightly enough about how our fundamental rights and freedoms are in jeopardy because of phony courts that have the ability to utlilize the power of the real courts to convict "maybe-they'll-be-criminals-in-the-future's," which in turn wears away at the foundations of our very society, rendering us powerless and stripped of the freedom to open our mouths. Delightful!

One of my favourite parts was when Micheal pointed out that many leftists see this issue as a battle of the political sides of the spectrum. Both men asserted that this is not the case at all. Neither care whether you're wrong--er, left, or right. This isn't about that. This isn't a bunch of bible-thumping Republican types ranting on about the HRCs, dabbling in little lies along the way in an attempt to ice to their white and blue free speech plea cake. (See, Canadian Cynic? I can list off dumb stereotypes and pass it off as a blog, too!)

No, this is an issue that affects everyone. We just happened to catch on first. But most of you have an excuse, as your heads were buried somewhere far up your bottoms. Many people are choosing to be stubborn now, based undoutably on shabby pretend principles, if everyone doesn't recognize how important this issue is--and soon--we're all going to pay the price. Levant pointed out that it isn't even the Conservatives who thrive off the freedom to speech as much as the Liberals do. Womens' rights, Black rights, Gay rights... They were all achieved by means of free speech!

Quoting an unknown both yesterday and today, Ezra asserted, "Take away all of my rights except for free speech, because it is with that one that I can win all the rest back." (total paraphrasing on my part, sorry.) That is absolutely the truth. No fundamental right is (arguably) more important than free speech, as it is with free speech that we achieved all the rest. Now, there are obvious exceptions to this rule, such as the right to life, etc. Mind you, many have no problem taking that one away, either.

Without the right to a forum for discussion, there could be no discussion. Without the right to protest, there could be no political progression. These dummies complaining to the HRC have every right to complain (without free speech, they wouldn't), just as every defendent had every right to say--or publish--what they did. That's the beauty of the free West. Levant said "we love justice." But the HRC isn't a real court. There's no real evidence needed, no real trials, no real justice. And the truth is, if these wacko complainants win their cases, it may be a feather in their cap (as my Buby would say), but it isn't simply a loss for the defendent. It's a loss for Canada, and the freedom we have boasted so proudly about. It's a loss for you and your liberty. It's the first chip in the decay of your fundamental rights, your society, and your freedom.

It is so interresting to me that so called 'holy' people like noted biggot Mohammed El Misery (Oh my bad) who can say on national TV that all Israelies over the age of 18 are legitimate targets for attack and death as un-uniformed members of the Zionist army of Israel. This includes ALL members including the leftist peacenicks, the arab and muslim populations within Israels borders and absolute Non-Threats like mentaly and physically disabled persons. Do ya think maybe that might create a situation where the rights of these Israelies could possibly have been forsaken. Do ya think this might cause them to be silghtly in peril. Do ya think anyone has submitted a complaint to any HRC on behalf of the people of Israel, or Israelies in Canada who might be subjected to imminent danger because of this buffoon's words and actions...NO NO NO!
Heaven forbid that anyone might hurt this mans feelings with a HRC complaint.
I am very sure the new illiberals that frequent this blog with their venom would be happy to support this raving idiocy. That is what IS so real and frightening.

Ezra laid out the boiler plate issues at play in this soviet styled speech witch hunt. Which in itself is sad...sad that Canadians have been dumbed down so drastically they have to be reacquainted with the basic tenets of civil law and civil rights.

Essentially what is at play here is not HRC "mission creep" but the state sponsored "tyranny creep" which enabled it.

The state (or at least a small cadre of social engineering collectivists in it) have redefined an ancient British civil law and individual right of citizenship of a democracy...that being; the right to openly DISSENT. Dissent politically, ideologically or theologically...the right to speak truth (as you know it) to power and majority (or status quo political correctness running a tyranny of the minorities in this case).

The malevolent nanny state has arbitrarily redefined our absolute right to criticize and dissent to any orthodoxy we feel a need to ...this is now called "hate speech" by the speech Nazis. Let's face it virtually all political/ideological criticism will subject the group who subscribe to the political/ideological orthodoxy under criticism to some level of contempt ...maybe even hatred...but so what? It's good to "hate" bad things and if we are denied the right to criticize how can we define what is bad from good....nanny has taken this task on herself...like all tyrannies do.

And they vindictively go after anyone who publicly dissents to state sanctioned orthodoxies, or any pet ideology of the social engineering class...like Multicult, immigration, race politics, minority politics. group identity politics or radical Islamist sharia creep...anything the extreme left social engineering class does not want to hear is now a "hate crime".

My case was made by Ezra when he stated his study of all HRC cases never has one case been launched against a minority...while there are plenty of bigoted minority slurs/prejudice to go around.

So I'm not going to be as eloquent or nationalistic as John Diefenbaker in his "I am a free Canadian" speech...I will simply say to these speech nazis who think free expression is up for debate and control:

I will disagree with, condemn, complain, criticize and show personal distaste and contempt for what ever, or who ever, I damn well please...because it's my bloody right to do so!...and no statist punk will silence me..EVER!! Not without getting themselves mussed up. We fought 2 wars to retain this right and I sure as hell won't surrender one damn bit of it to the same kind of statist tyranny our soldiers died fighting against.

"I am a Canadian,
free to speak without fear,
free to worship in my own way,
free to stand for what I think right,
free to oppose what I believe wrong,
or free to choose those
who shall govern my country.
This heritage of freedom
I pledge to uphold
for myself and all mankind."

John George Diefenbaker speaking to the Canadian Bill of Rights,
July 1, 1960.
